Bar Harbor Sept 1, 2007.
From Saint John NB to Bar Harbour Maine Sept 1 2007 in Bar Harbor, United States on Aug 31 '07
The road to Bar Harbor was very picturesque particularly as the weather was excellent.
Bar Harbor itself is a quaint town with many arts type stores, restaurants, etc.
Many of the motels had "No Vacancy" signs up and I was fortunate to get the last room in the motel I stayed in. This weekend, Labour Day Weekend, or rather in the States, Labor Day Weekend was the big weekend for them. The streets were packed.
The Bar Harbor area had been the summer place for the very wealthy - Aster's, J. P. Morgan's, Rockerfeller's, etc. In 1930's there was fire and the depression reduced the numbers of the very rich.
All in all a very interesting place to see.
