A lazy day in paradise

After our breakfast with the usual musical dishes we put on our swimsuits and headed to the beach. There were a lot of beach chairs so we put our towels down and went and played in the ocean. The beach was nicely sandy without a bunch of sharp rocks and the water was fairly warm. We could go out a ways in the ocean and still touch the bottom.
After about 45 min we headed back to the chairs and discovered that there was a chair rental fee of a couple hundred bhat. It doesn't really amount to that much money and you get a cold bottle of water as well, so its not a horrible deal. The annoying part though, is that vendors are CONSTANTLY coming by and asking if you want to buy things, hats, clothes, sunglasses, blankets, and so on. It makes it quite hard to relax by the beach when every five seconds someone is insisting that you want to buy what they are selling. We smartened up though, and for future trips to the beach we would go play in the ocean and then lay by the hotel pool. No chair rental fee and no vendors either!

Included in our hotel stay is an in-room one hour thai massage for each of us. We had that arranged for this afternoon and they showed up with some mats and laid them out on the floor. The massage was OK, but have to admit that I was spoiled by the treatments that we got at lullaby and no one else seems to be able to measure up! The two women that came weren't all that friendly and seemed almost put out to have to be working. It still felt good though. It was nice to just be able to lay on the bed after a massage and not have to go anywhere either!

At some point, we made our almost daily pilgrimage to 7-11. I can almost hear you saying "What? They are staying at this amazing hotel and they are going to 7-11?". 7-11s in Thailand are amazing. They sell almost any necessity that you can need. Our room came equipped with a fridge, and the 7-11 is the best way to keep it stocked with cold things to drink. I have a love of slurpees and have a hard time entering a 7-11 without buying one. Especially here where it is so hot all the time. A universal feature however, of most 7-11s in Thailand is that the slurpee machine are constantly out of order. I think I succeeded in getting a Slurpee like one day that we were in Phuket.
We had dinner in the restaurant right outside the front door of the hotel. We did the pick your own fish thing for dinner. Jeff had some sort of fish roasted over the fire. I had some of the biggest tiger prawns I have ever seen covered in garlic butter and then roasted. It was wonderful!
We headed to bed to rest up because we have a big day planned for tomorrow!
