Ciao, Guten Tag, and Cheerio Europe!
From Only 15 Days to Go! in London, United Kingdom on Mar 09 '08
A: Hey again. Marissa swore she was going to write tonight's entry, but she's asleep and it's not done, so here I am!
Anyway, on Sunday we slept in a bit to recover from our exhausting day in Paris. Eventually we got up and went to some awesome markets. They were part craft fair, part vintage shop, and part art gallery...super cool. There was a lot of amazing handmade stuff. It was very artsy...I loved it!
This morning we got up to a very icky day! It was what the London newspaper referred to as 'the worst storm of the winter'. Granted, it was just a lot of rain and wind, but it didn't make for a pleasant day of sightseeing. Marissa and I went our separate ways in the morning because we each wanted to see different things. She headed to a Winston Churchill Museum and the Cabinet War Rooms, while I went to the Tate Modern, a gallery of modern (1890's to present day) art. It was AMAZING...a serious who's who list of modern day art. Definitely my favorite museum. I'm pretty sure Marissa enjoyed her museums just as much.
After doing our separate stuff, we met at Shakespeare's Globe Theater and toured it. It was also very cool, but we forgot that it didn't have roof-not so pleasant in the rain. Also, in case you are wonder, it isn't the actual theater Shakespeare himself built, but a reproduction of the original.
Then we went to the British Museum and saw the Rosetta Stone...very cool. We looked for the frozen man and some dinosaurs, but all we found was a bunch of mummies and a Native American exhibit. Cool, but for some reason we felt like we'd seen it before :). I think we were museum-ed out by this point.
We also went out to eat with my friend Brendan and a couple of his friends tonight, so that was fun.
We fly out of London tomorrow at 11:30, so we should be back in Fargo between 5 and 6. The first thing I'm doing is turning my cell phone on! See you all soon!
