BA - the city that never sleeps, the fashion capital of the world... its not new york or paris but to me buenos aires could fit either of those descriptions! paris will have to take second place coz buenos aires is my new favourite city, particularly because it is amazing value at the moment. peru and bolivia are extremely cheap, but for the design, quality and quantity of fabulous architecture, restaurants, shops and facilities they are not comparable to europe.  whereas buenos aires is more expensive than la paz, but vastly cheaper than home for way better - well - everything!

hundreds of unbelievable young fashion designer´s shops, amazingly trendy bars, clubs and restaurants with great food and wine, beautiful streets and buildings, friendly people, a super efficient metro, all for really cheap AND great weather...what more does a city need?! the shops are unbelievable, you could definitely develop an addiction to shopping over here.  so much so, that even in 8 days i didn´t get to any museum which is really a shame, or to the gorgeous opera house or to a tango/salsa class and there´s so much more you could do here too!!

i had no idea that ba was this cool. it´s really lucky too coz i´ve picked up some nice bits for the wedding and the holidays that i may not have found in brazil from the sounds of things. also beauty treatments cost a pittance over here so i´ve been getting nicely spruced with exfoliations and pedicures and the like to prepare for the big day!!

and i haven´t even mentioned the nightlife yet. anne left after 5 days to head to patagonia as she´ll be spending another week in ba before she flys home from here, and it also marked the end of my travelling with brigette and karen, so we made the most of the amazing clubs here that open at 2am and finish at 6am or 7am normally or 1pm on sunday, as did the one we went to on saturday night as it was hosting an after-party for the creamfields dance festival from 7am on!! anne and myself were there from 2am to 1pm on sunday - 11 hours - what a marathon.  the club, called opera bay is based on the sydney opera house design and is located next to the yacht marina and has a huge outdoor terrace - it´s some experience clubbing while getting sunburned, then dunking your head into the outdoor pool to cool down!!!

we also got to eat local at a friend of a friend´s house who cooked us the traditional argentinian bbq - yum, yum!! then we returned the favour by cooking shepard´s pie and irish coffees for them another night!!! really nice people!

needless to say, i´ll be back, and soon!
