So we left Langkawi on a 9.45am ferry from the terminal in Kuan - breakfast in Starbucks sorted us out for the journey ahead. Following a one hour boat ride to Satun in Thailand we had to take a taxi (more like a hiace van with no roof) to the bus station in Satun. The bus station was a dead end street with room to park one bus - nothing like you would see at home!

As we had gained an hour travelling from Malaysia to Thailand we had a good 1 1/2 to kill before our bus left for Krabi so we decided to avail of the internet access in the shop that sold the bus tickets - it was so slow we couldn't even open our e-mail....and she still had the cheek to charge us....!

Picture this - crystal clear shallow water, beer in hand and sitting down with not a worry in the world, heaven for me!
At 4pm the water just broke as tide drifted so we walked across to next island to meet our boat driver

Our bus was big & pink & comfy so no complaints on that front. We stopped once in the 5 hours it took us to make it to Satun for about 10 minutes - just enough time to grab a cornetto before getting back on again (didn't see anything else that looked edible at the 'shop' we stopped at!! The area where the bus drops you in Krabi is a complete dump but after spending about 10 minutes in the nearest travel agent and arranged our accomodation and got a cab out of there into the main beach area.

We finally got our laundry done last night when we arrived at our hotel for the grand some of 4 euros each. After that it was off out to eat & drink - had the most amazing dinner again (friend rice with pineapple and red snapper fish) - yum!!! Food is for nothing here - the further north we go the cheaper it seems to get.

Having been in Thailand before on some of the islands 3 years ago I sort of knew what to expect but today when we rented a long tail boat to take us around some of the nearby islands I was blown away by how amazing it was.

The second island we stopped at called Chicken Island was fantastic  - we had dinner and lots of beers there earlier today! Picture this - crystal clear shallow water, beer in hand and sitting down with not a worry in the world, heaven for me! The tide started going out at about 4pm so at that point we gathered up our stuff and walked across to the next island (as the water was so shallow) to meet our boat driver so that he could take us back to mainland.

So it's off out again for more food and beers on this really cool bar we found on the beach across from our hotel that is right on the water....wish you were all here!

Hi Lady Carmel, My girlfriend and are going to Malyasia and Thailand. We can not find a bus to Krabi from Satun and read that you took this trip. Can you please tell us what is the bus line? How do we get the bus? What times does it leave? VERY much appreciate a response. Thanks, Joe
