Yes, family your eyes are not deceiving you. I am in Colombia. Don't worry, it's alot safer these days then you think and from what we've heard what a country it's meant to be. Sitting on the plane (1.15 journey with Avianca) I have to say I was extremely excited knowing I was soon to be arriving here. Women aside (and if the girl on the plane is anything to go by - wow!) I'm really looking forward to the Caribbean coast (along with everything else).

Well, we arrived on a Thursday afternoon to soon witness a student march. Thousands of students. I only mention it as one dude was completely naked and painted in white haha wearing a Predators mask made out of what looked like a corn flakes box hehe. We had a stroll around the area our hostel is in taking in the surroundings and our bearings. That evening was interesting. I broke out in a type of rash in what I think is from alot of passion (before you think anything sexually related) I reckon it's an overdose on passion fruit. I've been necking the things - soo good here. Anyway, I was itching so much my name surely was Ditch. With pharmacies closed and wrecked from my lack of sleep the night before, I took a sleeping tablet and woke the next morning to perfection again hehe.

A long weekend in Bogota..

The Museo de Ora (Gold Museum) is a must-do in Bogota and we did that the next day. Very interesting with some nice photos. That night, we got a taxi to Zona Rosa where Bogota's nightlife can be found. There's about 4 blocks in every direction of bars & restaurants so it's really worth checking out. (There's also some expensive brand stores). It was a bit of a hit & miss night as your unsure which places to go to, which are good etc. But we did pay into a VIP area to skip one queue and when that place was no good jumped a wall into another bar to skip queueing into there hehe.

Saturday as a whole was an excellent day. We awoke in our hostel Platypus to the smell of a giant bbq and free-flowing drinks. It was the hostel's 14th birthday and the food was on the house. Here, we got chatting to loads of cool people including Matt (from Oz) and Dave (living & working in Colombia for the last 7 months). Dave missing being around some Irish boys, wanted to get locked pikey style, and so we surely did hehe. We checked out some local bars which are as cheap as chips but also now and again break out into a gun-fight. I kid you not, which happened when we were there. The windows and doors were bolted up until the confusion was over. We were fine though! Afterwards, we hit a few other places - the nightlife in Bogota is excellent! And back to the women - they are on a par if not better than Argentina so that's saying something. Sunday was obviously a bit of a right off, with the drinking starting the day before at 1, but we did head out to a nice restaurant, followed by amazing ice-cream in Crepes & Waffles and a beer.

We awoke Monday quite tired and a bit groggy. Unable to face another bus station until we had fully woken up, we stayed for the afternoon knowing our next bus left Bogota on the hour, every hour. We decided to do the Teleferico which brings you way above the city for some great views. Yours truly brought the camera but without the memory card - dumb ass! Worth the trip. We caught our bus at 4pm from Portal Norte by the side of the street and we were off. We'll be back in Bogota for at least another night before our flights to Rio.
