Tai Tam Country Park is about a 8-10 minute bus ride from my apartment in Stanley. It is one of four country parks on Hong Kong Island and it is the biggest. It covers almost a fifth of the island. Tai Tam means "big pools" in Cantonese, referring to the reservoirs. The two main trails are Hong Kong trail and Wilson trail. All the main trails are paved. The tallest peak is Mount Parker, at 1,663 feet (507 m). The reservoir water is a beautiful shade of green and you can find turtles swimming by and bright fish, like Japanese koi. I hear that we can walk part of the trails from the school in Repulse Bay to get home back to Stanley. That will be my cardio workout on the walk home!

Tai Tam Country park is good fun. I've lived in HK for 18 years, check out my blog if you need any ideas for things to do. http://hkmulligan.blogspot.com
