Arrived at the bus station and hoofed it down the hill to Main Street. WRJ is s small town. The hotel is just across the street from the railroad. There is an old steam locomotive on the platform which was built in Manchester - Manchester, New Hampshire. Loads of english place names round here. I've driven through Wareham, Stockbridge seen signs for Reading, and explored the Berkshire Hills (but apparently I pronounce it wrong).
When I arrived in town I saw they were showing an Alan Ayckbourn play so went along to the first performance. Excellent english accents and very funny. The guy next to me in the theatre used to live in Harrogate in the 80's.
Loads of English place names round here.
Surrounded by forest here. In fact the whole of New England is like one huge forest, with the odd town here and there. Imagine what the early settlers must have felt like in this wilderness.
Lovely people at the hotel. On the morning I left I was sat on a bench enjoying the sun when the receptionist from the hotel sat on the bench opposite and started playing his guitar and singing. He was pretty good too.
Enjoyed the Hermits Bar from the cafe. A bit like a big slab of crumbly ginger cake.
