Ferry from Greece to Italy
From Trip Around The World in Bari, Italy on Apr 02 '07

I slept in late and had breakfast around 9:30am. I went through the pictures I had take the day before of Athens and then checked out of the hotel. I then got the train to Korinthos to catch a train to Patras, where the ferry leaves for Bari, Italy. Both train rides went by rather quickly, but I did enjoy some of the Greek countryside and coastline. The ferry ticket to Italy is covered by my Eurorail Pass, which is really cool since the tickets are about $100 Euro. I only had to pay $10 Euro for the Port taxes and fuel surcharge. The seats were airline style, but there was tons of leg room and unlike a plane you can walk around anywhere you want at anytime. The ship is also much bigger with lots of cool things to do. The brochure said the boat had a pool, poolside bar, a casino, several resturants, but I set my expectations pretty low and therfore I wasn't disappointed when I went to explore the ship. The pool and the poolside bar where closed, since it was freezing cold on the back deck with all the wind. I am sure in the summertime it is quite nice and probably very crowded at the pool. The casino was just a bunch of slot machines and video roulette. The resturants looked very nice, but also expensive. I walked to the front of the ship to check out the view and it was super windy at the front, I had to hold on to the railing to stop from being blown over. The bathrooms were pretty nice and there were a couple of showers as well. The pullman seats where I was seated was pretty empty, so there was lots of room stretch out and relax. The seats were all in pairs, so I curled up across the two seats and got some sleep. I had to move every few hours cause any position I could find was only comfortable for short time.
