Cameron Highlands
From Around the world in 90 Days in Tanah Rata, Malaysia on Mar 07 '07
The Cameron Highlands is a great place to cool off after the heat of the jungle at Taman Negara. Its a lot cooler at around 23 degrees during the day and the humidity is much lower than the surrounding lowland regions.
This area was explored by the British in the early 1900s who set up a hill station where they could live in their mock-tudor houses, play golf, prune their roses and sip their tea. It is very surreal to sit in the middle of Malaysia and have a devonshire cream tea on the terrace!
Cream tea on the terrace!
Since arriving we have taken a half-day tour to explore the tea plantations and to eat strawberries at a nearby farm. Time for a day's trek in the forest and then we are going to the Perhentian Islands for some more relaxation, this time on the beach!
