Even with the limited research I did before we left, I realized that we could take I-95 south and visit my dad's best friends in Wilmington NC, and then pick up I-40, which starts there.

We arrived Friday night, and on Saturday we went to Wrightsville Beach. I went for a run on the sand knowing I would be eating lots of fast ish food for the next week. Does a 45 minute run cancel out all of the Denny's, Waffle House, and McDonalds food that I was about to eat? I'll soon find out.

This stop was meant for relaxing and hanging out with great family friends before the rigors of the road. They spoiled us rotten!

I heard Wilmington is beautiful...been meaning to go there. Did you happen to notice if there were any small B&B type places along the beach?

There is alot of history down in Wilmington. Pirate legacys and many many shipwrecks are what gave Cape Fear its name. I really appreciate your blog on Wilmington. I intend to get down there someday. Mimi and George are great too. :)

That beach had mostly rentals around it, but I'm sure there are B&B's. There are a bunch of places where the TV show Dawson's Creek was filmed, and lots of beachy type resturants and stores.
