Well, even in February when freezing sounds like a day in the tropics, there is still fun to be found. I met wonderful people. There are hostels everywhere. Also watch out ! All stores stop selling alcoholic drinks at 22:00 sharp ! After than you'll have to go to a bar to wet your whistle. The old town is quite nice. I stayed a week. The trip to the airport is only 30 minutes and really cheap. The food is wonderful. I went to a restaurant where I ate pancakes, the Latvian kind. Here they wrap the pancake with all sorts of stuff, you choose the ingredients. They range from sour cream to jam. I also took a little side trip to the seaside town of Jurmala. Even the beach was covered in snow and the sand was literally underneath a sheet of clear ice as I walked out atop the frozen sea ice, and it was safe to do so, to see swans apparently not minding the below freezing temperatures.

Party on the Baltic
