our stay in Amsterdam
From Honeymoon in Europe in Amsterdam, Netherlands on Feb 24 '07
Hello Everyone,
25 feb
Well to begin with we were delayed in singapore for about 1 hr because of fuel meter problem so that mdae us miss our plane in London to come to Amsterdam. We had to wait 4hrs. Then we got delayed in London due to something else wrong with the plane. We left about 50 mins later. We were sitting on the plane for that long. Then we finally get to Amsterdam and one of our bags didnt make it. Dont know how they could have forgotten to put it on the plane as they had 4 hrs to put it on the plane. We got to our hotel finally and then I realised that we left phils passport in the office that we had to go in to to fill out the form for the bag. We werent to sure where it was so we went to the police to see if they could ring up the place at airport but the office was closed. so we had to wait til today to find out. We went to Sara's pancake placce near our hotel. It was very nice. Then we went back to the hotel and watched a bit of Tv and went to sleep about 8pm. We got a ph call about 12pm to say that the bag would be delivered tomorrow 26feb and that they found the passport. We were both very relieved.
26th Feb:
Caught train to airport to pick up passport and was told the bag would be at hotel by 1pm. We came back in to Amsertdam and went to Anne Franks house. It was very moving and we learnt alot about the jewish occupation. We then went and caught a canal taxi. It was a hop on hop off one. We stopped at the Rijks museum and saw heaps of rembrandt paintings. I then got a american hotdog. It was very yummy. We went to canaletto for pizza. That was delicious. We caught the canal taxi back to hotel to see if Phils bag had arrived so he could put his warmer shoes on (His been walking around in crocs in 6 degree weather since we leaft melbourne)Some people look at him strangely. The bag hadnt arrived but should be here tonight between 8-10pm. Hope so we leave tomorrow arvo. We then went to the red light district and saw the women in the windows. Saw all the " coffee shops". Some of the window women look like "window men" lol. Phil got approached by a dodgy man trying to sell him something off the street. Now we are here writing this. Will write more when we get to copenhagen.
Phils sends his love to the girls xxxx

packed all our things up ready to leave. Went and got canal taxi to van gogh museum. On the walk to the museum we saw a big sign that said I amsterdam so we got a photo each in front of it. Looked around the museum. Not very big.Only 2 floors and only half the floor area had photos in it. Werent there for long. Came out of museum and it was pouring with rain. Went back and caught the canal taxi back to the red light district. We wanted to see what it was like in the day time. There were still girls in the windows. They must work 24/7. Took some photos and video. Went and lunch and then went back to hotel and and got shuttle back to airport. the driver must have been in a hurry as he was speeding around. (Not sure if he actuall was but it felt like it). Got to airport. had to wait 2 hrs. Plane left on time. We fly SAS. The seating was very close together and we had to buy our own food on it. Which we didnt know. Got to Copenhagen at about 6.30pm. Didnt have to go through Immigration when we arrived and then when we went though customs there was no one standing there. Was very easy to get in to here. Caught taxi to hotel. The hotel is nice. The satff are nice. We went for a walk and got dinner. We walked up the street and there was some dodgy looking people around so we quickly had dinner and went back to hotel. Going to explore copenhagen tomorrow. Will write more soon
Love to you allxxxxx
