The RSCN runs a nature reserve in Dana, with several types of accommodations, we decided to go check out the Dana EcoLodge.  It was stupendously beautiful!  The Ecolodge was actually at the end of Wadi Ghuweir, but it was great to go back there.  Late February was the perfect time, it was as green as it gets, and pleasantly warm during the day, cool at night.  The Ecolodge runs on candlelight at night, in the dining and rooms they have candle chandeliers, and little niches for the tealights.  Very atmospheric.  The architecture is Arabic/Mediterranean adobe, very well done and comfortable.  Service excellent, and a great vegetarian dinner.

We took a tour of the ancient copper mines, apparently the first in the world, and the rocks were beautiful, the guide had to stop Zahra from taking too many.  Then we visited a Neolithic settlement that is being excavated in Wadi Ghuweir, really interesting how the houses were set up.  It was like one large structure, with rock walls, each "house" (which looked like a room) was about ten by ten feet.  As in Phoenicia, there were no doors, the house was accessed through the wooden roof.  Lots of grinding bowls, indicating that this was one of the first places to experiment with grain agriculture.   Pretty impressive for 10,000 years ago.

Definitely a recommendation for visitors and residents of Amman!
