After the hustle and bustle of the induction phase for the venturers, we waved them off as they set off to their project sites around the country. Last week we took a road trip to visit 2 of the projects. 1st we went to Volcan Tenorio were a team is relaying a path up the half way up the volcano to the hot springs. Although hard work they do get to relax in the thermal pools at the end of the day! The next team are right at the top of CR at Playa Nancite, a restricted beach in a national park as it is where Oliver Ridley Turtles lay their eggs. If the group are lucky enough in the 3 weeks they will see over 1000 turtles coming up the beach to lay their eggs at one time. The group are carving out a path in a hill to ptovide better access to the beach for the rangers. I have spent the last days with a pickaxe nearly frying in sun. However running intot he sea at the end of the day and then seeing some turtles lay their eggs at night was truly the most magical thing i think i have ever seen!
