Splitsville (Honeymoon - part1)

Our first stop on honeymoon was Split, Croatia and I must admit it was a bit of a disappointment.  We had heard so many great things about Croatia and Split did not live up to its reputation.

Four of us travelled together on our honeymoon, Patrick and I (obviously), and two of our friends, Ryan and Sharlene.  It was wonderful to have friends with us after having spent so much time alone this past year.

We spent two days in Split and it was one too many.  The first day we toured the old town, which is elegant, but really not a whole lot to see.  The tour of old town took about 3 hours and then we were done.  Because we arrived in Split a week before the tourist season really kicks off there wasn't even anything going on in the evening - and all of us felt up to partying.

The next day, having seen everything there is to see, we headed to the beach.  Actually we headed to what they call a beach and what we call the coast - the beach was very rocky, unclean and crowded, but the water was refreshing (thank goodness!).  That evening we again struggled to find any type of life in the city and turned in early, eager to start the Bosnian tour.
