We have arrived in Fort Cochin, a highly touristed area on the coast in Kerela. Its really the firsts time that there is any conglomeration of western tourists in one place, which is ok for a change as we do not look out of place for the first time here (and Peta not ogled and groped too much). Our overnight train journey from Kannur started with 90 minutes of waiting for the train at the station as it limped in 60 minutes late at 4.45 AM. Listenning to The couging and phlem spitting was a lovely way to spend our time whilst waiting for the locomotion to arrive We had a sleeper which was good and got a small, coffin sized room at the Kapathan Inn, a small homestay. We have since moved to more luxurious accommodation in a beautiful place in a old dutch building with high ceilings and massive rooms with a sit out.

Our dinner last night involved buying red snapper at the opne fish stalls lining the shore here. I think the 4 (we had dinner with some Dutch friends we met at the hometsay) snapper cost 300 rupies - $9 AD and we had them superbly cooked for us by one the open air restraunts. We ordered "special tea" which means here, beer! Licencing laws seem to be rather conservative here in good ol Kerela, and beer needs to be either served in tea pots into coffee mugs or served under the table into serveate covered glasses - it all feels so rebeleous..
We have booked a massage for 2PM, so I better be off and load some pics from Mysore.
Cheers
Scott
