We took an early afternoon ferry from Boston to Provincetown, on the tip of Cape Cod. To say that P-town (as the locals like to call it) was a change from Boston would be an understatement. It consists mainly of one main street, and a few others behind it. Commerical street, is where the ferry docks, and the walk up the street to our B&B was amazing. You'll see the types of houses and shop fronts in the photos, but they dont do this place justice. Its cute, quaint, white washed, patriotic (to an extreme), and so slow paced its almost asleep. Its population increases 10 fold in the summer season, which we are just missing i'd imagine - it was pertty quiet for our time there. It all seems quite "little house on the prarie" and from the outset you could be forgiven for thinking this was bible belt america. Not so, Provnicetown is Americas gay capital. Its world renownd as being an open, tolerant society. it was strange, but great to see such a typical small town america style place, with such a refereshing attitude. What makes it so ironic, is that the town was settled first by the pilgrims in the 1800's - not the most gay friendly folks you could meet. Speaking of the pilgirms, the original architectural style of the town is protected by state law. it is against the law to build anything new, or to alter any of the house or shop fronts, and this really gives it an old town and magical feel. P-town is also well known for its nightlife, most of which wasn't up and running for the summer when we arrived. None the less we found one or two nice pubs and restaurants to relax in - once we remembered our I.D. of course. On a more worrying note, it does seem P-town is under some sort of CIA style surveillance. its either the CIA or my parents anyway. While casually strolling to our B&B, i recieved a text from the old man telling me i was looking well, and they had just seen us on "a weather webcam" website. Which was nice. As a result of this, we're reconsidering telling you all where were going next! After our relaxing day and night in P-town we headed back to Boston for a night in the H.I Hostel in Back Bay. We had an easy night with some good food and a snoring room mate - although not together. on to New York..we'll update from there!!
