Monteverde - In the Cloud Forest

Our next stop on the eco-tour was Monteverde National Park which we got to by crossing Lake Arenal by boat.  We checked out the local not so friendly (it bit me) cockatoo for a few photos.

Monteverde is a cloud forest and it was pretty weird actually being in the middle of the cloud and I´ll admit it didn´t do much for my hair!  We had a guided tour of the forest and managed to spot the rare Quetzale bird which is really pretty.  We also found tarantulas (I didn´t get too close), lots of bugs, fluffy catapillars, robins, hummingbirds, wild turkeys and the R2D2 bird not to mention the trees and plants - strangling ferngullies, orchids and "hot lips".

In the afternoon we had our next adrenaline rush, ziplining across the top of the canopy, which was fantastic fun and we were so disappointed when it was all over.  It was so cool flying along through the clouds!
