Skagway, Alaska
From Alaska Trip 2006 in Skagway, United States on Aug 27 '06
We dropped the trailer in Whitehorse and drove to Skagway, Alaska for a day. The drive on the South Klondike Road is like going back in history to the days of the Gold Rush. We spent the night at the White House Bed & Breakfast in Skagway. We had a very nice room and enjoyed the break from the trailer.
Beth found several quilt stores and did quite a bit of windowshopping.
When we arrived at Skagway there was a cruise ship in port and a second one replaced it the next day.
The highlight of the trip was the ride on the Yukon and White Pass Railroad. This is a ride I have always wanted to take and it lived up to its billing. We also were able to see a steam engine running on another train.
We drove back to Whitehorse and picked up the trailer. Next stop the Cassiar Highway!
