Charm and Character on the Bay

One of our favorite experiences during our vacation was the evening we spent in Sausalito. Trying to escape the afternoon rush hour in San Francisco, we headed across the Golden Gate Bridge at about 4:00 towards the charming town of Sausalito. The storybook street with old fashioned store fronts was lined with boutiques and restaurants. It was quiet and beautiful. There is a little park on the bay in the downtown area where Justin and I sat on a bench and watched the sail boats -- with a great view of San Francisco in the background. It refreshed my soul just to sit and relax. The drive there was very interesting -- slow and steep curves everywhere! There were houses built into the side of these steep hills. It was unlike anything I had seen on the East coast. We just walked around until the time of our dinner reservations at Scoma's restaurant. It is a lovely little restaurant out over the water with a beautiful view and a menu filled with rich seafood entrees. It was the perfect end to a blissful day on the bay.
