Ensuite on a Ã©t頠à Kampot ( un soir, Rodolphe et Vincent ont dû mettre 2h Ã  déguster leur crabe !) Et oui, c'est dur de manger un crabe entier et,.... non coupé !! On en a mis partout, mais, c'était excellent!!

De là on a fait une excursion dans le Bokor, parc national protégé, où les francais et le roi, Ã  l'époque des colonies en Indochine, avaient fait construire une station climatique perchée sur une colline, pour les riches du pays... Un truc de luxe avec casino, hôtels, piscine, église ...

Et ben , aujourd'hui, c'est comme une ville fantôme où il ne reste plus que des squelettes de bâtiments (voir photos, vous comprendrez!), Ã§a fait vraiment bizarre ! D'abord, la route pour y aller est défoncée au possible (4h de 4X4 aller- retour dans la forêt tropicale qu'on a bien senti passer, mais c'était quand même cool !!)... Et une fois là haut, il y a une ambiance spéciale de vieux bâtiments abandonnés et de nature qui a repris le dessus... On peut facilement imaginer la grandeur et l'importance de l'endroit Ã  l'époque du colonialisme mais l'ambiance glauque et écrasante qu'on y trouve aujourd'hui représente bien, je trouve, le chaos de 1953 (?) quand les francais ont dû quitter l'Indochine en catastrophe et laisser tomber tous leurs "privilèges" aux mains des pilleurs du peuple qui eux mourraient de faim... C'était intéressant comme visite, même si pas très beau !...

Sinon, Kampot, c'est aussi le "jour J" ou l'on a decidé de mettre fin au supplice et d'ouvrir cette formidable boîte de foie gras, (fait par Vincent lui même! La grande classe !!) ainsi que la bouteille de Champagne qu'il avait ramenée de France ( et qu'on a bu à 2 avec Vincent, enfin, il en a bu les 3/4 et s'est couché le sourire aux lèvres!!), ça c'était un beau cadeau de Noël ! Grand moment ! Merci Vincent !

Then, we went to Kampot (where, one evening, it took Rod and Vincent absolute ages to eat their crabs!!) Well, it is pretty hard to eat a non-cut crab with your fingers, but it was delicious!!  From there, we set off for a trip to the Bokor Reserve, where the French and the King, at the time Cambodia was a French colony had this mountain resort built at the top of a hill, a resort for the rich and priviledged basically... A luxurious place with a casino, hotels, swimming pool...

Well, it's not the same story today! It is now a guest town, where the buildings are totally derelict and there is hardly anything left (see pictures, you'll understand!), it's really weird! First of all, the bumpy road to get there is one of those we will remember (4h return in a 4X4 in the tropical forest, but it was fun!)... And once we got to the top , there was a weird atmosphere of abandonment and of nature which took control... You can easily imagine the importance of that place when it was still a French colony but the dull nowadays atmosphere represents well, I think, the chaos of 1953 (?) when the French had to leave the country, leaving all their goods and priviledges behind, in the hands of the people who were staving to death... If not an especially nice place, it was an interesting visit...

Other than that, it's also in Kampot that we decided to have this wonderful "foie gras" (made by Vincent himself!!) as well as a bottle of Champagne which he had brought over from France (and which we drank only him and myself...well, he drank 3/4 of it and went to bed with a smiley face), that was a great Christmas present!! Great moment, thanks Vincent!!
