Cancun, mexico

well, i am back from my vacation to cancun, mexico. with a sunburn and many bruises later, i can now tell the story...

saturday - we flew into dallas first, then to mexico. the flights, layover, customs, immigration, baggage claim, and trip to the hotel from the airport and all that took up the whole day pretty much. when we got to the hotel, we were astounded with how gorgeous it was... the view was terrific, the room was spacious and nice, and the pool and courtyard area was spectacular. this hotel is right on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world!! we had dinner and drinks out by the pool that night with all of the other trip winners (squares). we found the right table though, and started to become part of the loop of certain things that go down in cancun. we walked around our hotel and the beach until really late that night. it was very serene and romantic. it was an unforgettable night. sunday - we were supposed to go snorkeling with the group of winners, but we opted to go shopping at the local markets instead. we did our shopping thing all day and got a lot of neat stuff. we ate dominos pizza (of all places in mexico), which was sooo good!! then we decided to go out clubbin that night, so we went back to the hotel to get ready. we went to this place called coco bongo, which was AMAZING! most of the clubs down there are hip hop clubs, but this particular one mixes it up a bit, so its not boring or redundant. they play like 5-6 songs for people to dance to, then they put on a show for a song or two. they have dancers, trapeze acts, impersonators, and various other shows there. there was a madonna, michael jackson, shaniah twain, axl rose, beetlejuice, and the mask impersonators. there are more that i dont remember, but anyway it was lots of fun. we stayed up until 8am the next morning... this night was pretty wild! monday - we had to get up at 10am for our spa treatments. so we got up (somehow) and had hour massages. we went back to bed when we got back and slept until like 4pm. we had a mandatory dinner that night, so we drug ourselves out of bed to get ready for that. the only problem is i ended up getting sick!! it was horrible!!!! i puked my guts out twice before we left for the restaurant, and then twice more at the restaurant. so we got a taxi and cut out of there early. i went straight to bed when we got to the hotel and slept til the next day (except for the two times i got up to puke again). it was terrible!!! me and alcohol arent buddies anymore for awhile. i didnt drink anymore alcohol in cancun past this point... tuesday - we had a mandatory group activity this day called the "jungle tour". i got to drive a speedboat through these crazy tree/vine thingies growing out of the water. after about 45 minutes of "driving", we got to this beach where everyone snorkeled. i wasnt feeling to good still, so jon and i just went to the beach and hung out until it was time for lunch. we got back in the speedboat and drove to this mexican food place for lunch. it was really good... then that night we went out to coco bongo again. it was a lot of fun. when we got back to the hotel, we werent ready for sleep just yet, so we went to the beach. it was sooo peaceful and romantic being there alone on the beach with nobody else around. the stars above, and the waves crashing in madly... amazing!!! we stayed up until about 6am the next day... [ for wednesday - see the chitzen itza entry ] thursday - this is the day that we left. we slept most of the morning, so we didnt get to go to the beach during the daytime like we had planned. this is my only regret. the sand was sooo white and fine, and the water was totally clear and blue. it was unlike any beach i had seen in my life. and i dont think ill ever get to see it again (because i wouldnt pay to go back to cancun)... anyway, the flight home took all day/night as well. we got back to our house at about 1am.... it was definitely a whirlwind trip that ill never forget!!
