Our departure was made very special by Donna and Graeme who brought all the trappings for a Christmas party to the airport..including a tree. Thanks guys that was really good fun. I will attach some photos of the event.

The flight was a shocker..the only thing good about Aerolineas Argentinas so far is the luggage allowance...two bags not over 32kg each. Bought another bag already!!! Also upgraded my return flight to business class. It was simply too ghastly to go through that again.

Saturday night the whole city seems to party

Next bit of excitment was when we arrived at Buenos Aires and Roberto was picked up by Interpol...his name is similar to a criminal they are searching for so we had to wait for him to be cleared. They didnt seem to please at us taking his mugshot at the interpol door but we gog a kick out of it.

So far the trip has been great despite me having my wallet lifted in a market and Roberto having his passport pinched on the subway...good luck to the poor sod trying to use that one. Not a great tragedy as I was only carrying the minimum.. but had to get a couple of cards cancelled.. and Roberto had his chilean card and could get to Chile without a passport. So that was that.

Buenos Aires is the most amazing place. Huge, busy, bustling late into the night...parties all through the night, mad about soccer ..Futball.., and great sights and food. The steaks here are amazing ...had some great meals. Bought a dozen pastries from the bakery for 1.75 pesos...divide by 1.7. going to have to watch that one... make a note to look for more fruit.

Avenue Florida...amazing shopping and all the areas have their markets and their own very distinctive personality.

The apartment was three blocks from the Obelisco on the corner of Ave Corrientes and Parana which was located perfectly. Plenty of city noise ond on Saturday night the whole city seems to party....the apartment across from us sure did. The music in the city at nigt is fantastic

We toyed with going to the main stadium for the semi final of the futball but there were only black market tickets and while it would have been bearable if it was just a couple of us for five it was a massive investment.  Everyone is mad about soccer here. Even the street deros have transistor radios and sit in doorways and alleyways listening to it. The final was yesterday and the underdog won. The TV was on in the lobby of the hotel and all the staff were glued. My guide told me today that the win was quite an upset. She told me that when your team wins the supporters go into the town square and wave flags and celebrate. She had a friend that supported the winner and he went to the square here at Puerto Iguazu and there were only four others there....cant get the exclamation mark to work on these computer.

The view from the Apartment...right in the heart of the city.
