I could not sleep more than 20 minutes at a time on the train because I was scared I would fall into a deep sleep and miss my stop.  So around 3:30, I went into the corridor of the train, where there were actually like 5 people standing around.  I just stared out the window, and there was SNOW, everywhere!  It was the only snow I had seen all season, and it was GREAT!  There was an older man standing next to me, and he turns to me and asks me something in German, to which I replied, umm sorry I don't speak German, just English.  So he says, oh which kind?  To which I dumbly reply, uhhh american?  (good one Leah).  So we chat for a while about Austria, and what I'm doing, and how I'm scared becuase I thought I missed my stop.  So he goes on a 20 minute hunt with me for a conductor, and asks where the Villach stop is.  So we figure it's coming up in about 10 minutes.  He was on vacation with his family, his 3 teenage daughters and wife, so we laughed about that!  But he was a nice guy!

So I found myself at Villach, Austria train station at 4 am with a 2 hour layover.  What on earth was I going to do with myself?  I didn't have a ticket to get to Slovenia yet, I had to buy one there, but the ticket office didn't open until 6 am.

I sit down next to one guy who is sleeping, and there are 2 other guys there as well.  As I sat down I double checked that my Swiss Army Knife was still in my pocket...check, still there!  So the guys start talking to me in German.  Cripes, it was at that point that I don't know German, Slovene, nor Croatian.  Should be interesting.  Well these guys spoke english.  So we chatted, and after a while I realize these guys are drunk, alcoholic bums, and thet the one 'sleeping' is really just passed out.  ummmm great.  So I just try to sit quietly by myself, but they keep talking to me.  Oh well, so I finally buy my ticket, and I am outta this place....
