We love Asia

OK so I know its bad to start talking about money straight up like I did in Bolivia but you cant get over the comparison of Australia and Bali.  Here we are staying in a 5 star resort that smells of the sweetest flowers, has a pool the size of a footie field, a great bar and restaurant, air con and our bathroom is the size of our room in Darwin.  Cost? GBP32 a night.

But its not that.  Its the smell, the kindness of strangers, the smiles.  The crazy markets and roads full of mopeds risking life and limb for another two feet.

In Queensland you are fined for drinking and smoking on the street, in Bali we are being positively encouraged to smoke and drink in the swimming pool.  Because its not so busy at the moment we are playing pool with the bar tenders.  And when that gets hot we fall into the pool again...

As the guy on reception said on our way out "Bali: great place, good food, nice drink, too easy... "

We also found out that we were staying in the only decent hotel in the area which made us nice and smug.  Eventually binned the trip to Lombok in favour of learning to surf and doing  some dives in bali both of whcih were a great laugh.  Both Nick and Elle stood up and Elle provided some fun for everyone on the beach by screaming everytime she caught a wave - the whole beach shouting to her to stand up. Very funny.

Eventually we got a bit bored of living the high life and headed out to the low life in Jakarta!
