Journal Entry 11, 23 September 2006 - Exeter Stage Right

First weekend into Life in the England and it was time for a road trip to Exeter. The first medieval town I was to visit and the first look into the life of a Motorway. Don't laugh Motorways are a life of there own, ask anyone who uses the M25.  Exeter had a fantastic cathedral and one of the oldest in the countries, with impressive architecture and an atmosphere that commanded respect. The town it self was filled with cobble stone streets and quirky little stores, a university town with a friendly atmosphere.

I was on my way to Exeter for a 50th Wedding Anniversary for family friends who I had never talked to let alone met.  It was a fancy suit and tie event at a "Country Club". You have to say "country club" in an english accent! The family there was also part of this secret society religion thingy that I am absolutely ignorant about. It was an interesting night and when a camel came out and I kid you not, started belie dancing. I knew that I was in for a bizarre night of fantasy and English humor.

Yes that is a dancing camal!

Whilst down there I also visited the seaside towns of Torquay and Cockington which were truly English holiday sea side towns. Short weekend trip but never the less a great look into an aspect of high society England.

To Be Continued..
