What a change from dusty, warm Rome, to crisp, clean air and greenery in Bern. A new friend Joel, whom we met in Vernazza, Italy, had graciously offered to host us when visted Bern. He and his fiancée picked us up from the train station. How nice to see a familiar face in a foreign country. We stayed at Joel’s for 2 nights, catching up on movie watching and laundry. Joel showed us around old Bern one afternoon. We went around on bikes, since we could borrow them for free in downtown Bern, thanks to McDonalds.
