I have long wanted to visit Canada, and I will have finally made it.  During this time I will visit Niagra Falls and a few ex passangers and what ever else I can find.  I can not wait.

Friday 9 June 2006

Had the morning to catch up with life, like washing and all. Then Norm, Coralee and I went to Algonquin Provincial Park. We were off camping for the next 3 days. We set off after lunch and got to camp by 7pm, set up tents, had dinner and went to bed.

Work this morning to more rain as it had been trying to as we went to bed. We had breaky and went to the info centre to check the weather conditions. The rain had eased off so we went for a hike around Berm Lake, about 4km. After the hike we went for fuel and to check out Barron Canyon. Along the way we stopped for some Beaver Dams, saw a beaver but it would not get close enough for a photo. Then back to camp for another chilly night and some dinner.

Sunday 11 June 2006

Today we got adventurous we hiked up to High Falls for lunch (about 7 km) and then came home the long way about 9km so it was a good days hike and don’t my feet know it. As we were settling down to dinner a moose ran through the camp site (a very rare occurrence apparently).

Monday 12 June 2006

Drove back to Oshawa via the western end of the park and went into the Logging Museum. Quite interesting. The speed limits here are slow, a maximum of 90km on a 6 lane highway. Very strange.

Just a day to relax and catch up with the world.

Wednesday 14 June 2006

Went into downtown Toronto and caught up with Kelley. We went into the city for lunch and went up the CN Tower (the tallest tower in the world) at 560 odd metres high. From the top we could see pretty much all of Toronto, it was a nice clear day. We then went to a pub in town with a few of Kelley’s mates, had dinner, watched the Stanley cup (Ice Hockey) and talked. A good night was had by all and it did not seem like midnight when we got home. The sun goes down so late here.

Thursday 15 June 2006

Organised car today for pick up on the 18th. Went to the Rogers centre (aka the Sky Dome) to watch the Blue Jays play Baltimore Orioles, this is my first baseball game. The Jays won 4 to 2 and it was a gentle way to spend an afternoon, if it was not school day and half the stadium was full of screaming high school kids. They even tried to take our seats, little shits. Then we went home and I cooked dinner.

Friday 16 June 2006

Got up early and went to Toronto Island, this was my first venture alone in the town. So I had to navigate the Subway (quite easy actually as there is one into town and one out) and then jump on a ferry to take me out to the Island. I spent the morning walking around the Island and enjoying the piece and quite. There are a few lucky people who live on the island, there is even a clothing optional beach, the first and only in Toronto. Nothing worth photographing, sorry dad. Then back to the apartment and catch up on this journal. Kelley’s dad is coming to town today so we are going out with them tonight.

Saturday 17 June 2006

Just a slack day, did washing and the like. Caught up on journal and got photos ready for web site. Shopped for trip to Niagara and packed small day bag.

Sunday 18 June 2006

Walked up to pick up car, supposed to be a 3-4 block walk but ended up a 35 minute hike. Came back to Kelley’s and picked up gear and off I went, Watch out Canada a mad Aussie trying to drive on the wrong side of the road. Got into Niagara at about 12ish, could not check in until 2 so drove around and got my bearings. Checked in and left gear, got my adventure pass and walked into the town (4km). I did the Maids of the Mist and took a few photos (all on film so you will have to wait dad), then walked back to the Hostel. Went to the Chinese place for dinner and met a few of the other people staying in the hostel. A group of us went down to the falls at 9.30 to try for a spot for the fireworks. Took some photos of the Illuminated falls and the fire works and then went to the pub.

Monday 19 June 2006

It is bloody raining at 6am, but thankfully by 9 when things open it has eased to a slight sprinkle, so I walked to the Rapids and then to the Whirlpool and the rain started again during the second walk. Went of the Spanish Aero Car over the Whirlpool. I then caught the bus to the Butterfly Conservatory, and got a few good shots. After which I returned to the Hostel for lunch. After lunch I visited the Walk behind the Fall and a Helicopter flight over the falls (bloody expensive but you only live once). That afternoon, the hostel did a BBQ and watched the Final Game of The Stanley Cup.

Then we headed through the Niagara on the Lakes district to Toronto, dropped off the passengers got lunch and returned to Kelley’s to collect the rest of my things.
