We now travel from the Wrangell Mountains through the Switzerland of Alaska (will be able to confirm this as I know a Swiss person on the tour) to the seaside town of Valdez.

Friday 21 July 2006

Today we drove to Valdez and did some shopping and set up camp. We stopped at a couple of waterfalls and the Worthington Glacier, I took a few photos and that was about all.

Saturday 22 July 2006

This morning it was raining again. Nicole and I are off to Kayak the Columbian Glacier, this is an all day event. We get dropped out near the glacier and then kayak out through the bacas ice to the glacier. Well that was the plan but there was too much ice and the ice bergs were moving quite quickly. So we went into a little bay and walked to another bay with the idea that we may be able to carry the kayaks to this bay and paddle closer but there was too much ice in this one as well so we had lunch and then moved onto another creek to an area that was releasing inert gas. We saw some Bald Eagles and I think I got some good photos. We then got picked up and we to a Stellar Sea lion camp (these are the largest of the Sea lion family), it was all the unpaired males, no good photos here due to the lack of light and current moving the boat. Back to camp and dinner, I was starving.
