Hi guys...!!! how are you doing? Hope you enjoyed my other enteries. Now your wait is over.

After travelling for nearly 8-9 hours, we finally reached Shimla. Capital of Himachal Pradesh, situated at approx 2300 mts above sea-level.

Shimla

The old British buildings, quaint cottages and churches still remind visitors of British era. The fresh air, magnificent snow peaks and refreshing green all around make Shimla worth a visit.

After settling down, instead of venturing out, we decided to take rest. The journey in hilly areas are very tiresome.

Day 1

On the first day, we decided to explore the most popular destination - The Ridge & The Mall. The Mall is main shopping area where you can buy woollen shawls, handicrafts and other stuff. The Ridge is the place to walk. No vehicles, except government, are allowed so you can relax and enjoy. Once famous for monkey-menace, I was surprised to see none. We did some shopping, had lunch, and then went back to our hotel.

Day 2

Our first stop was Chail, approx 40 kms from Shimla. It is famous for highest cricket ground. Another important landmark is former Maharaja's palace which now is a hotel. A beautiful place, with cool & clean air. Enjoy hot coffee amidst nature.

On the way back, we stopped at Kufri. This place is known for ski slopes and hiking. Here you can hire ponnies & see the neighbourhood.

Next destination was Naldera. My favourite spot. Approx 26 kms from Shimla, this is famous for golf course. There is a famous, but very small, temple - Nag temple from which this place derives its name. We hired ponnies and explored the surrounding jungle.

Day 3

Today we went to Jakhu Temple, dedicated to Lord Hanuman. & here we found lots & lots of monkeys :-). The precaution to take - carry a stick. You can even hire one (only Rs. 5/-).

Day 4

Next destination - Chandigarh.
