Heading south!
From Backpacking for Dummies in Bangkok, Thailand on Jun 01 '06
Tonight I'm leaving Bangkok again... only this time I'm going south to the beaches! Wahoo! I am taking the overnight train to Chumphon, and from there I take a ferry to Ko Tao (Turtle Island). Ko Tao is one of the most popular places to do scuba diving and snorkelling down south. Some of the beaches on the west coast are supposed to be really great, but they don't advise going there during the rainy season so I'm sticking to the gulf coast. I will also probably head around to Ko Pha Ngan which is supposedly a big backpacker island just south of Ko Tao. I have about 8 days to spend down there before I have to come back to Bangkok so I can head to Cambodia and Vietnam.
Nothing super exciting has been happening in Bangkok lately because I have mostly been sorting out my visas for Cambodia and Vietnam. Although I did go see the DaVinci Code last night. I haven't read the book so I got a bit lost a few times but overall I thought it was decent... interesting at least.
