In the City: Tower of London
From Studying Abroad in London in London, United Kingdom on Oct 12 '06
Shelley is finally in London. She, John, and I went to the Tower of London with Stephany and Brian. We walked around -- saw the "Bloody Tower," the ravens, the chopping stone/block, the beefeaters, the Tower of London Bridge, and the jewels. To see the jewels you walk into a vault and first you get to see lots of septers and plates all made of gold and carved specifically for whatever occassion they were needed. Then you get to another section filled with the crowns -- which has a super slow moving sidewalk so you can stand and stare while moving slowly by them all. Really smart, not to mention that the crowns had fabulous rubies and diamonds, and were supremly shiny. I loved the exhibit -- and I'd suggest that anyone visiting London should check it out.
There is something to write away for tickets for -- where you get a show about the locking up of the Tower and the Ceremony of the Keys. I'm going to write away for tickets now, and hopefully I'll be able to go before leaving London. Look into that as well for any one who is visiting. They're free, you just need to get them way in advance.
