Literally spent hours trying to hire a "Yellow Hummer H2" this morning.  Unsuccessfully!  The only Hummer available was Silver.... and for the best of $1000 for the day we wanted yellow!  We even tried to reserve a yellow one for Friday.. but they couldn't guarantee the colour  ... and if it turned out to be silver we would have to pay for it anyway!!

After speaking to at least 15 different car companies - and hearing that all of the yellow hummers were rented for the day we ended up with a silver family wagon .... and on the drive back from the rental company to pick me up Wingy saw a yellow hummer with a sign across the windscreen saying "RENT ME"  - not happy!

Spent the afternoon driving out to the Grand Canyon, stopping at Lake Mead and Hoover Dam along the way.  Took the scenic drive along Route 66.  Got to the Grand Canyon quite late in the evening (around 8pm) only to find that all of the accommodation in the National Park was taken.  We ended up staying in the nearest town.  The Hotel had great beds though - a heaps of pillows!
