'at home in Moutier'
From 'at home in Moutier' in Berne, Switzerland on Jul 10 '01
Mary and I felt at home staying with Deborah and her mom Marianne in Moutier. They were
wonderful hospitable hostesses. We visited Deborah's sister Naomi in Zurich, who treated
us to a homecooked meal and her sister Nina (and dad Gean) in Lausanne who did the same- wonderful fun people. One of our highlights here was canyoning the Lenk valley near Zweissman with Swiss adventures. We made our way down about 9 waterfalls: jumping, sliding, or rappelling. It was good to have a physical (and mental) challenge!
Another favorite experience was a picnic lunch up in the Gura mountains. We took a gondola up to the top where an amazing mountain vista lay before us. The quietness of the mountains is as majestic as the roar of the ocean- both a very powerful experience. The mountain flowers were in bloom and the air felt so fresh. A few days later we were at a roaring loud music festival in Bern, struggling to keep our feet under us and our own breathing space sas we ventured to the front of the mob to see Mann Chau- a very popular band in Switzerland...quite the contrast! To top it off it was pouring rain and a mud field- lots of fun.
God surprised us again with the blessing of a visit to the Baptist church in Moutier on Sunday. Again we were recieved with love. We met an amazing couple from Ghana who overflowed with the love of Jesus and were so inspiring. The Lord has blessed us beyond our expectations.
