Brisbane is a nice place a decent sized city with lots of ingredients with which to make an exciting place-cake. The city has a river running through it and a modern waterfront looking over it, tons of shops, a Subway and Mcdonalds on every corner, curry houses, bars, 8 million sex shops, a china town and "pokie" places. Fruit machines to UK people. It also has a street which we had to walk down to get anywhere which is full of tramps and nutters, the usual thing of shouting to nobody in particular, arguing with lamp posts etc.

We were only in Brisbane for a few days, it was a nice place, we walked round the botanical gardens, got lost in the town centre. I got a haircut for the first time in 2 months as my hair was the shape of a large shaving brush. At the end of getting it cut it looked like a small shaving brush. I also seem to have lost lots of hair with extreme thinning since 4 months ago.
We had booked a room with an en-suite bathroom at the Tourist Hotel but on arrival we were told that the fridge in the room we had asked for was not working so they had "upgraded" us to a room with an en-suite bathroom...er thanks, it's almost as if that was exactly what we booked anyway. Not that we were going to tell them they were mistaken and we HAD booked this room and we demand to pay more. This was the first in many useless dealings with the reception staff.

We had a traditional Australian meal of curry and went to bed. After waking up i decided to get some grocieries in. I pulled back the curtains and looked out of our window to see what the weather was like and i could see it was going to be very brick-wall-like. I chanced it and put on my massive winter coat that i had bought cheaply in New Zealand.
I got directions to the nearest food shop from the receptionist and then headed off out. It was first thing in the morning and it took about 10 minutes to fully wake up and realise something was amiss. Firstly it was about 25C, i was boiling, there wasn't a cloud in the sky and people were wearing t-shirts and shorts and i was wearing a massive winter coat, zipped right up. Secondly i had been walking around a car park for ages and there wasn't anywhere selling food ... i looked like a flasher.
I walked for another 30 minutes and found absolutely nothing which resembled a place that sold anything edible. I was a bit miffed and headed back to the hostel with nothing to eat. I bought some milk from reception, got to my room opened it and realised it was sour "is she doing this deliberately?" i thought, she gave me another milk, it was sour. We went on the internet later, ruths pc worked and mine didn't ..it was a conspiracy.
