So after chilling a bit in Cotonou, we decided to spend the weekend in an extraordinary place, Coco-Beach in Grand-Popo. From the moment we arrived, we knew we loved the place. The whole idea of Coco-Beach is to simulate idyllic Jamaica. It's not at all touristy and is so charming that we fell in love with the place. Reggae plays all day and the staff is almost entirely Rastas. They play djembes, chill with us, discuss anything and everything...

Our room was a little hut made of twigs, our bed of straw, and there was no running water. Very basic. Food was great, with fresh shrimp and curry fish and coconut drinks... We spent 3 days with Hugo and Julie just reading books, eating, relaxing, basically living the life. On top of it, we were right by the beach, which was an enormous plus for us. Unfortunately, the waves are extremely strong on the West African coast, so we couldn't swim in the Ocean. We did however play in the water, with the waves beating on us and throwing us back on the beach like dolls (especially Margie). :)

Ya man! Livin' the life man!
