Shop till you drop
From Six weeks in America in Washington, United States on Dec 10 '08
What do you do when it is raining and you are museumed out? You go SHOPPING!!
We caught the Metro, after only a little fiddle with the automatic ticket machine to the Pentagon Centre. It is only 2 stations from the L'Enfant Plaza (Central) station which is a short walk through an office building from our hotel.
We split up and shopped our socks off for a few hours and Christmas (Holiday) bargains were had by all. The Pentagon Centre is a 4 storey shopping complex with Macy's, Nordstrom and any other name brand store you could imagine, eg Georgio Armani and so on.
It was good to have a free day using only our brains to figure out a good buy or not and signing our credit cards!!!! We haven't seen the exchange rate of late, but who cares.
We have become addicted to the Weather Channel. We all sit glued to the TV watching the weather developments from the West to the East coast of the US. What a scream. We had fits of laughter last night thinking how exciting we were with Craig and Vara propped up on their bed, Rhyanna and Candice propped up on their bed and Jane on the office chair in the room all watching "the weather".
Dinner at the hotel, with Vara and Jane having the house speciality for the night - catfish with caper butter sauce. Very tasty. To think Jane used to try to catch these fish in Norman Creek, East Brisbane when she was a kid. Well, maybe not the same catfish!!
National Lampoon Vacation is the movie for us tonight - Walley World, here we come!!
