Day 14: Quiet in Portland

From The Adventures of Tim in Portland, United States on Oct 08 '06

Maybe it's because it's a Sunday, or maybe its because it was raining, but portland was dead today!

I got up and showered then headed into the town.  To be honest, I really just couldnt find much to do!  I wandered about then had some breakie and looked for an internet cafe.....of which there are NONE!!!  It's rediculous!!!!

So once I got bored of doing nothing I went back over to the hostel to see what they suggest.  Once I'd had a look round their notice bored and torrist infomation bumpf I decided to go and have a look at the Japanese gardens they have over in a place called Washington Park, so I took the bus back over and up to the gardens.

The gardens were pretty cool, there were some good Bonzai trees.  I've only ever seen them on TV before but they do look just like tree but are tiny!   I wondered round the gardens for about 40 minutes, by which time i'd been all the way round.  It was nice but to be honest not really worth $8 to get in!

So i headed back to the hostel, a bit disappointed by Portland. I decided to pop into the supermarket on the way back and get some mince and onions and stuff for a spag bol.

I got back, made my spag bol, and enough to last me tomorrows bus journey, then sat down an mulled over how dull portland was......

BUT.....

First I had a game of pictionary with some of the other guests which was quite amusing,  I was wicked!!! Even though it was using yanky words!

I got chatting to this american chap who was staying there and he had some weed so we went round the back to smoke a pipe.

We were just chatting outside when 2 scottish guys who had just arrived came round and started chatting to us.

The converstion naturally turned to weed......and the 2 scottish blokes (i won't put any names!)  had THE BIGGEST BAG OF WEED I'D EVER SEEN!!!     They had just come up from California where they ended up staying at this weirdos house.  But a nice weirdo.....he gave them a carrier bag full of weed FOR FREE!!!

So yeah, they gave me a hand full to take with me, so I should be stoked up enough to last the rest of my US trip!!!

After we'd had a bit of a smoke, we all turned in.

Turned out to be a pretty successful day!
