Hi everyone,

We are in Oaxaca as you probably gathered by the title of this journal.

big canyons with bridges over them (scary)

The trip on the bus from mexico city was pretty uneventful. The scenery was pretty amazing. Lots of mountains and big canyons with bridges over them (scary) and lots of road side stalls...

So far havent seen anyone with a sombrero on... what a surprise.

We met up with a couple of Australians in Mexico city who funnily enough were working in our hostel in LA, and we are travelling with them at the moment. They are pretty fun bro.

Oaxaca is a great place. About 3 weeks ago there were big riots here by the teachers, and 6 got killed. they are coming back today so there are some tensions in the air... very exciting though, all the market stalls have TVs set up watching the news about it.

Havent brought anything in the markets yet, we are about to go and get some crafts and stuff now, they have some pretty neat stuff here.

The place we are staying at is great. Its called Luz de Luna ( light of the moon).  And its just like you would imagine a Mexican hostel to be like. Its painted yellow and blue, and has a big courtyard in the middle with hammocks, and like 10 dogs. You can sit up on the roof, or pitch a tent up there. We are in an 8 bed dorm with a whole lot of itallian guys who dont speak any english... needless to say they were pretty happy with the results of the football yesterday.

My spanish really is slowly slowly getting a little bit better, I meant to ask someone last night if the food was spicy (picante), and it wasnt until she left that I relised I had asked her if it was small (piqueño)... luckily for shaun is wasnt spicy.

We are off to the Pacific coast tomorrow.  Some fun in the sun at Puerto Escondido. Then who knows from there.

We are getting a little better at travelling every day. its quite hard work trying to speak spanish, and harder understanding people. I kind of fall into bed exhausted every day.

Looking forward to the beach... ¨:)

Love to all...

Sarah and Shaun

Oaxaca sounds awesome. And Shaun, you must train yourself to eat hot food! The key is to be a bit Masoginistic and enjoy the burning sensation. It increases endorphins and makes you feel awesome. Tom.
