Greek Islands
From Europe - The Second Time Around in Greek Islands, Greece on May 18 '08
Early start as we drive 15 mins from our hotel to the port to board the Anna Maru for our cruise to 3 Greek Islands.
The cruise was nice and relaxing as we arrive at the first island. It was beautiful as we exit the ship, we notice the plenty of cafes all lined up and the plenty yachts.
It’s really beautiful here.
The weather is aqua blue as we take a stroll through the town.
The next Island we arrive in was much beautiful then the first. You could take a donkey ride up the mountains but we opted to go have a nice cool drink at the bar, which was a picturesque view. It’s really beautiful here.
We head over to the souvenirs and grab some goodies before it was back onto the cruise ship bound for the last island for the day.
Lunch is served on board.
We arrive on the last island. This was a quiet island with a private beach for 3 euros. We didn’t stay there as we only had 2 hrs so it was not worth the cost. Instead we headed to the public beach and had a swim.
The water was calm and relaxing.
6pm and then it was bound for Athens again. We all sit on the top deck and relax and enjoy the sun, which is still up and warm. We were able to view the hundreds of seagulls flying above the end of the ship. For a moment we could not work out why there were so many so close at one time, until we realized they were being fed by one of the cruise staff so it explains why there was so many.
The boat docks at the port and by the time we arrive back at the hotel it was 8.30pm. I was completely tired and sun stroke.
We quickly change and all assemble at the hotel foyer for a walk to the Plaka area. We bump into Janina and David who insist we visit this pita shop for a cheap feed. They were indeed correct, because it was probably one of the best things I’ve had in a while
It was chicken with lettuce, tomato, hot chips with this special sauce all rolled up in a soft pita bread, All just for 2.70 euros, which is just amazing.
We head towards the busy streets as everyone is out dining in the many restaurants. The area looked beautiful with its pretty lights all lit up.
We browse around until the shops closed. We luckily walk back to the hotel just in time before it started to rain. Then it was back to the hotel for a sleep and pack our overnight bags for the trip over to Italy.
