Causeway and Casco Viejo
From Island Caretaking, Bocas Del Toro, Panama in Panama City, Panama on Feb 03 '09
On our second day in Panama, we took a taxi to the causeway. Negotiation for a taxi is part of the culture down there. Be prepared to turn down a taxi ride if it seems to high. There are plenty of taxi drivers to choose from!
We rented bikes and decided to bike the entire causeway out to the islands. From the causeway you have a great view of Panama City Skyscrapers, Bridge of Americas and the large vessels lined up to enter the canal.
In the afternoon we ate and spent sometime walking around old town Panama, Casco Viejo. This is a neat area that is being refurbished with restaurants, apartments and tourist shops. In this area you can find the oldest house in Panama and plenty of indigenous selling there goods.
