More big trees? Big deal, I thought. That was until the ranger told us that in addition to their big trees, they also have a campground right on the beach. The minute I heard that, I was hooked!
We were able to snag a premium campsite right on the beach, and in my eyes, nothing is better than camping right on the ocean.
I would go so far as to call Fern Canyon "magical" and that isn't a word I use often

The park itself is quite large, and because of our isolated beach location we actually didn't explore very much of it. However, there were 2 highlights near our camp, one being the Lady Bird Johnson Grove which was a short 1 mile stroll through ferns and redwoods. I seriously thought a Sasquatch would jump out at any minute. The second highlight was a place called Fern Canyon, another short stroll through a streambed with 60 foot walls entirely covered in ferns. That description in no way describes the beauty of this place. It looked so perfect and unreal, it almost seemed like something Walt Disney created (minus the gigantic entrance fee, according to Brian). In fact, I would go so far as to call Fern Canyon "magical" and that isn't a word I use often.

Without a doubt, Redwoods NP has been my favorite park so far.
