Uluru and The Olgas

Got our three day pass to visit the Rock and The Olgas. Stayed at the resort at Yalara. The rock is huge and it does change colours depending on the weather and time of day. The sunset viewing area was loaded with international tourist, for the whole time we were at Uluru and the Olgas, we were lucky to see half a dozen Aussies. The rest were from the states, Japan, Holland, Germany, Switzerland......great to talk to so many different people. The kids and I got up early as it was raining so we drove out to Uluru to see it raining on the rock which turned it a silver brown colour.

Drove the 50 km to the Olgas and went for one of the walks between two huge walls of rock, bumped into the same tourist all day. It was very hot and the American tourist were melting.
On the last night, we went to see the sunset on Uluru for the last time, it was very overcast and threatening rain. The rock was quite dull and disappointing in colour, next minute the sun rays shone through just before it set and threw the brightest light on the rock changing the colour instantly to a vivid red lasting only 5 minutes, a brilliant show just for us!!!!
