Friday morning we drove to Santa Fe to visit our good friends Leslie and John. We had time and so took the scenic route to Santa Fe. It was so gorgeous. We wished we had more time to stop by all the little villages and galleries along the way. Next time. (This is becoming the theme of this trip.)

We got to our friends’ house and were blown away by how lovely it was. We got the tour of the house (making notes along the way for our own house plans) and then sat and caught up on how they were liking Santa Fe and what else we’d all been doing since we’d last seen each other. (Leslie, Brad, and I all worked together 10 years ago or so. Leslie is a big reason that Brad and I got together. She was the one who suggested I give Brad my furniture when I was going to Africa.)

Santa Fe was more like what we thought Taos would be like....lovely and charming.

Then we went on a tour of Santa Fe, starting with the plaza. While we didn’t have a ton of time to explore, I have to say I love Santa Fe! (It’s kind of what I thought Taos would be like.) There are a plethora of charming galleries, book stores, restaurants, parks, churches, etc. We can’t wait to come back and explore more.

We drove a bit into the lovely surrounding mountains, where there is great hiking and skiing. (The thought of all this beauty buried in snow and in sub-zero temperatures in the winter left us with no wishes that we’d considered this as a future home though. :)

That night, we enjoyed a good New Mexican meal (Brad had carnitas; I had veggie fajitas with tofu and fabulous baby squash, etc.). The meal ended with our recently discovered favorite dessert – sopapillas.
