Went to visit J's friend Helen in Puebla for the weekend. We got an overnight bus on Thursday to Mexico City. (Omnibus de Mxico- not as good as ETN due to the loud films they put on preventing you from sleeping- this particular one had lots of lions roaring loudly in it and a man seemed to have trouble starting his tractor). Got to Mexico City at 6am and it was freezing- all the people were wearing thick coats, hats and scarves so J was quite cold in only a fleece. Safely negociated the Mexican underground to get to the TAPO bus station where we caught a bus to Puebla. Helen met us there and we went straight to her flat which is in the centre of the city. It's really nice- huge and above a gym which trains people to box. Later we went wandering round the centre which is beautiful, very colonial, lots of buildings with lovely tiles. Visted lots of churches- apparently Puebla has 365, one for each day of the year! We also bumped into a huge parade in honour of some sort of international festival which was very cool. In the afternoon we went to one of the universities where they were having a cultural day and Helen's tutor was hosting an "Irish Pub" with guinness and Irish "apple crumble"! Michelle (from Cuernavaca) arrived in the eve and we went for a meal with her and Alice, Helen's flatmate.

On Saturday we wandered some more aound Puebla, being proper tourists, taking lots of photos and buying some souvenirs. J and H had mole for lunch which is like chocolate curry- very odd. Michelle and I had vegetarian tacos (I'm off meat after accidently eating lamb). Then Sat eve there was a party for Alice's birthday, which was wkd. Met some really nice people (my Spanish is really coming along- can now ask for a lighter and another drink) and we got rather drunk on homemade punch... not as drunk as J who was limbo-ing under some lights and managed to headbutt a door! Cue drunken phonecall to Crash...

Beautiful Puebla...

Next day, sadly only I had a hangover (don't know why but drink seems to go straight to my head) but it meant I got out of clearing the flat which was quite disgusting. After a light lunch by some (I was sticking to water) we went back to the bus station and catch the bus to DF and then back to Colima, finally arriving there at 6.15 Mon morning. Poor J had to go and teach while I slept off my hangover and general tiredness!
