The first thing we noticed about Oslo was that it seemed more like a regular modern city than any others that we had visited. We found our accommodation (it seemed like it was in the seediest part of town) and thankfully we were able to combat the incredibly high norwegien prices by cooking in our own kitchen.

The start of our time in Oslo was pretty boring. We spent some time doing planning for the next stage of our trip and deciding not to spend 2000 kroner (about 450 dollars!) to visit the doctor (It wasnt urgent). After that we got to explore some of the city. We made our way through town to Vigeland park. Throughout the park there are statues designed by a famous Norwegien artist depicting the human lifecycle. The centrepiece is a giant phallus. It was a really attractive park and we enjoyed one of best lunches there.

The next day we woke up early so we could actually fit some more attractions in our day before we got onto the train. We went to the national gallery and we saw 'The scream' amongst some other great pieces of art. After this we went to the fortress on the harbour and went into a museum which explained the effect of world war 2 on Norway under German occupation.

Unfortunately do to the high cost of living in Norway we had to really rush through the country. It is such a beautiful country and we would have liked to have been able to explore it more.
