I have a friend, Daniel, who lives in a suburb of Sydney called Bateau Bay, and he offered to let me and two friends come to Sydney with him for a weekend.  We drove down on Thursday morning, and it was about an 8 hour drive.  We stayed the night at his house (for free, which was nice for a change...and besides, I'm really tired of hostels) and hit the city in the morning.  We took a walk through downtown and ended up walking into the botanical gardens which are sqaushed between the skyscrapers and the harbor.  The gardens let out at the opera house, which was perfect.  So we hung out there for a bit, but had to catch a train back to Bateau Bay to see a band in a bar than Daniel wanted to see.  Off to Sydney again the next morning, went up in Centerpoint (a tower that you'll see in just a second), then when it got dark we walked across the famous Sydney Harbor Bridge and hit the town for the rest of the night (...and most of the morning).  The next day we got up in time to catch a rugby game between the Sydney Roosters and the Newcastle Knights, Newcastle won 32-20, a dissapointing loss.  Then, we were supposed to head back on a train right after the game to get back to campus in time for class, but apparently trains don't run on Sundays, so we had to wait until Monday morning and finally got home by 8pm, oops.
