Autumn views in Yosemite
From World Tour - Californication leg... in Yosemite National Park, United States on Dec 31 '07
Our detour to the ghost town of Bodie was well worth it, but I hadn´t quite anticipated how far the heart of Yosemite park was from the east entrance. Sadly, therefore we only had a few hours to hike a short trail here before dusk. The road descended from quite high and there were a few fairly steep drops so Watkins (my chauffeur) did very well to navigate them, particularly in the dark on the way back.
Yosemite is America´s third oldest park and by the amount of people we saw, one of its most popular, too. Autumn isn´t peak season, but there were still plenty of campers and hikers and families enjoying the colourful leafy trees and mountain views.
We took a 2.6 mile round trip to Vernall fall, which in summer is rushing with water but by autumn slows to more of a trickle. It was still very beautiful and the fresh air set us up nicely for a good sleep that night.
