Swansea is an old mining town 1 hour from Wickenburg, but since it is a ghost town...it wont even show up on the map.

My brother and I drove out on a decent 4wd trail packed and ready to camp and get chased by bats.

Them there bats il getcha bro! Duck! Run! Squeak squeak squeak...

So we finally find Swansea, it was actually a bit touristy, albeit we were the only ones there...the mine shaft had a gated "safety" zone around it.  We still got through, dropped a rock down there and counted to nearly 10...utilizing my physics background and the lack of vacuum tube here, we estimated (later to be confirmed) the depth to be about 1000 feet. Burly!

We hiked around the ruins for a while and imagined the steam engines, hammers and racket of all sorts.  Amazing how the 100 year old structures were already returning to their prefab form, dust.  Not quite Ankor Wat in Cambodia, but US "history" nonetheless.
